The Conservatives won 365 seats, giving them a 80 seat majority in the House of Commons. It is the party’s strongest showing since the days of Margaret Thatcher.
Labour, on the other hand, suffered its worst loss in modern history, prompting leader Jeremy Corbyn to pledge to resign.
The Scottish National Party, meanwhile, had a strong showing and took seats from both Labour and the Conservatives north of the border.
